A fire early this morning at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in central Jakarta caused no injuries but resulted in an estimated Rp 1 billion ($112,00) in damages at the Central Medical Unit building.

The dialysis room was damaged and will not reopen until next week.

“The hemodialysis service will be temporarily unavailable to dialysis patients. After the fire, the room will be cleared in order to clean it and make sure it is germ-free,” said General Director of RSCM, Akmal Taher.

“The service could be operating again in five days or up to a week.”

Akmal said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

“I am still unsure of the cause of the fire, but it has been suggested that it could have happened because of an electrical short circuit,” Akmal said.
