Baja... please exclude me from your comments. I have never played about a little or a lot at work with drugs or anything else for that matter save perhaps lunchtime Freecell - If you equate that to a taking drugs whilst being a pilot I feel you are misguided... Perhaps you ought to elaborate

Speaking of professionalism, many of us are guilty of the same act. While we're working in our office cubicle, we often play around a little, except we never get caught and we tend to not a big deal out of it.

@Jeanne: they did run a test on police in Aceh - remember they found 1000+ officers testing positive for illegal substances? I'm sure the government is keen not to repeat that same PR disaster again.

Surabaya. Police in Surabaya arrested a second Lion Air pilot in as many months for suspected drug use at a hotel on Saturday.

The suspect, identified as Syaiful Salam, 44, was caught with 0.4 grams of methamphetamine as well as a meth pipe in his room at the Garden Palace Hotel in Surabaya during a pre-dawn bust.

Sr. Comr. Bambang Triyanto, the East Java Police’s anti-narcotics director, confirmed the raid was carried out jointly with the BNNP, the provincial branch of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

“Earlier this morning a joint team made an arrest of a Lion Air pilot in relation to a methamphetamine case,” he said on Saturday. “The suspect has been taken to the BNN for further investigation.”

Jan D. Fretes, the head of the BNNP, said officials were treating the case seriously because of the safety implications had the pilot been allowed to fly while under the influence.

“This relates to public safety and we want to avoid an air accident caused by the actions of a pilot who is high on drugs,” he said.

He added the bust was based on information from a Lion Air pilot arrested last month for meth possession in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Jan said Syaiful claimed to have bought the drugs from a Surabaya dealer identified only as Y.S. Police are looking for the dealer.

“He said the dealer delivered the drugs to his room and he paid Rp 300,000 ($33) for it,” he said, adding that Syaiful later tested positive for drug use.

The case mirrors that of Hanum Aiyaksa, the pilot arrested in a Makassar hotel on Jan. 10 with an undisclosed amount of meth in his possession.

Last year, another Lion Air pilot, Muhammad Nasri, and co-pilots Imron and Husni Thamrin were arrested in Tangerang in possession of ecstasy pills and meth. They had bought the drugs right before flying from Jakarta to Surabaya, but the airline denied they were high during the flight.
