Wow I was expecting to read (finally) a real punishment from National Police for their W Sumatra Police's barbaric inhumane murder on the citizens, instead this news is merely a pleaser, a "show", an act, a very deceiving lying trick and worst a true insult to the people's intelligence! It's pure hopeless.

I think it is time that the leadership of this country stood before the people and is made to explain why he is allowing his police force to literally get away with murder.

SBY is totally responsible for allowing this country to be turned into a police state.

Sneaky trick this, although highly transparent: sanction the officers for not watching the boys properly thus allowing them to commit suicide, thus reinforcing the autopsy suicide verdict. Can we be clear? These boys were tortured to death by policemen.

Hang on. Let's back this up a bit. First of all we would like to know the autopsy reports, cause of death and official statements from the officers involved in the negligence leading to the two children who died whilst under police care. Secondly we all deserve to know what compensation will be given to the grieving families . Jakarta Globe - will you follow this story until there is a decent and satisfactory resolution. I am sure I speak not only on behalf of the people of Indonesia but of the world when I ask SBY when he will become personally involved in seeing justice prevail and the children's killers apprehended and punished according to their crime.

The police chief of Sijunjung, West Sumatra, has been sentenced to 21 days detention and been stripped of his rank for negligence linked to the alleged suicides of two prisoners in his custody.

Police chief Syamsul Bahri was among nine officers on trial for the suicides of Faisal and his brother, Budri M. Zen, in their cell in Sijunjung in December 2011.

“As a result of the trial on Saturday, there are nine Sijunjung Police officers who have been proven to have violated the National Police’s disciplinary regulations,” National Police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said on Monday.

“They were convicted due to their negligence, not because of abuse of human rights,” Boy said. “It’s their duty to watch the prisoners but they didn’t do that.”

The brothers were found dead inside their cell, according to police.

The brothers’ family members suspect they died due to torture administered by officers.

The victims’ brother, Didi Firdaus, expressed hope that the case would be further investigated, and the guilty parties punished.
