Your View: Killers and Banks

We asked: What do you think of this latest twist in the Babe and Robot cases?

You replied:

This should be used as momentum to get at the root cause of the proliferation of street children in urban centers. There is an urgent need for the government to seriously address this issue. Not by issuing laws and regulations, but by providing a way out for these children so that they do not waste their futures.
Daniel Tjoa

Instead of raiding and checking the street children, maybe the authorities could direct those efforts to check on the premans and adults who take advantage of these children.
Gunapriya, Tangerang

The case shows that there is a need to provide protection for street children, and this should include efforts aimed at protecting them from being used and exploited by older people.

It is just too scary to think that these two men may not be the only ones hovering around places where a lot of the street children hang out. Can’t there be some special agency set up where street children can complain when they are extorted or forced to provide sexual favors by others?

We asked: Do you think state banks should be exempt from BI’s ‘single presence’ policy?

You replied:

Banks are money-making entities, and as such should be regulated. They should comply, without exception, or they should just close down.
Georgina Oey, Jakarta

Why should some banks be exempted? One crucial factor in a bank’s credibility is transparency. The single presence policy is only a logical extension of the transparency factor.
Anon

If the government has been trumpeting its drive for a clean government, then state banks should be included in its efforts . They should not be exempted from any rulings.
