I don’t see the process as compromised at all. Both Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani are innocent until proven guilty, and even if they are indeed at fault there’s little reason to think they’d be able to work behind the scenes to cover their tracks in such an enormous scam. If neither the Constitution nor the laws provide grounds for their suspension, the way forward would seem quite clear. SBY acted reasonably.

No. Until the committee or any other lawmakers can provide evidence of wrongdoing directly related to the “accused,” it’s putting the cart before the horse to ask either to step down. At the very least, give them their chance to testify before such a request.

This implies that democratic rights must always be exercised with a deep responsibility to God according to one’s own convictions and religious beliefs, with respect for humanitarian values. I believe Aceh’s religious affairs office is in strong violation in these actions that imperil the basic rights of our citizens.
