We asked: What do you think of the court’s decision? Should sexy dancers be prosecuted?

You replied:

Why is it that when Indonesia seems to be moving forward that things like this happen. Where is the common sense in this country? Why in the world would the police make arrests, prosecutors take it to court and judges even hear the case? There are thousands of Indonesian babies dying every day of treatable diseases, and we put dancers in prison. Are we ready to become an Islamic state now?

I think the judges should be fired and put on trial themselves. Do they even think about what they do? Or is the country’s judicial system so arcane that the judges had no choice but to hear the case and find them guilty, because they were certainly dancing that night. Can’t we think independently and have thrown this case out of court? It’s embarrassing and only adds more proof to the public perception that Indonesia is a radical Islamic country, while Malaysia is a secular state. Neither is true.

We asked: Do you agree with SBY chastising Australia for its warnings against traveling to Indonesia?

You replied:

Yes, SBY did an excellent job of showing his and all Indonesians’ thoughts about Australian citizens. He is doing great, working hard to make good relationships between all countries.

Yes, it was the right call. I also can’t believe that Prime Minister Rudd said it wasn’t his government’s decision to have a warning and that the Indonesian government understands. That’s ridiculous! The Indonesians don’t understand. I personally think it’s simply the Australian Foreign Ministry covering their butts so they are not liable when their citizens go abroad. Most Australian cities are more dangerous than Jakarta and Kuta Beach.
