Juwita Bahar has been the subject of much controversy lately. The 14-year-old dangdut singer recently moved out of her father’s home to live with her mother. Her parents, Memo Sanjaya and Anissa Bahar, are divorced.
“I left home because I badly missed my mom,” Juwita told online news portal detik.com in a press conference on Friday. “I just wanted to live with her.”
“I was so shocked when I heard that Juwi left home,” said Anissa, also a dangdut singer. “But, luckily, she came to me.”
Juwita is alleging that her father has been inflicting physical and psychological abuse on her.
Memo has denied the accusations. “I may have implemented strong rules for her to follow,” he said. “But I’ve never hit her, or anything like that. I really love her.”
