Damsyik rose to stardom for his portrayal of Datuk Maringgih, the antagonist in the 1980s TV drama “Siti Nurbaya,” which aired on state-run TVRI. Damsyik also starred in more than 60 films and had a passion for ballroom dance. He taught dancing classes and became a judge on “Seleberiti Dance,” a local version of “Dancing With The Stars.”
