The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society on Monday lodged a second lawsuit against the Corruption Eradication Commission for allegedly ignoring calls for speedy prosecution related to the Bank Century bailout.

Its first suit was rejected by the South Jakarta District Court in October on the grounds that the commission, also known as the KPK, was still investigating the case.

This time the antigraft group, also known as Maki, pressed the commission to name Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati as suspects in the case for recklessly injecting state funds into the ailing bank, which was later allegedly looted by its owners.

“By not naming Boediono, Sri Mulyani and other suspected officials as suspects, we consider that the commission has closed the case,” Maki chairman Boyamin Saiman said at the South Jakarta District Court as he explained the reasons for the second legal action.

In its writ, the group said: “The protracted handling of the case without sufficient and reasonable [grounds] may set a bad precedent in law enforcement … and can be classified as an attempt to drop the case.”

Boyamin said the group would present lawmakers who were on the House of Representatives special committee that investigated the bailout to testify at a hearing scheduled for Wednesday. He declined to name them.

The case is under preliminary investigation by the KPK, although a formal investigation and prosecution have yet to begin, said Indra Mantong Batti, a lawyer for the commission.

“[The KPK] shouldn’t be liable to a pretrial motion,” Indra told the court.  Heru Andriyanto
