A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara at 7.50 a.m. on Wednesday.

The epicenter is 57 km deep, 133 km northeast of Kupang.

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit off East Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday, government seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake hit at a depth of 57 kilometers at 7.50 pm local time, around 133 kilometers northeast of Kupang city, said Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where the meeting of continental plates causes high seismic activity.
