Monitor...?

Meaning keep an eye on the people receiving compensation, so they can be extorted later on....?

Oh sorry, so they can hand over their 'success fee'...

"The Indonesian government will monitor developments around a Dutch court ruling on the Rawagede massacre by Dutch colonial troops in 1947, a presidential spokesman said on Thursday. "

They can smell the money coming already.

This is one thing they'll monitor well, I bet.

The Indonesian government will monitor developments around a Dutch court ruling on the Rawagede massacre by Dutch colonial troops in 1947, a presidential spokesman said on Thursday.

“We will follow developments around the Dutch court ruling,” said Teuku Faizasyah, the president’s special aide on international affairs.

But Faizasyah declined to comment on what the government would do next to follow up on the Dutch court ruling, especially with regard to the payment of compensation for the families of the victims.

He only said the government hoped the ruling could meet the people’s sense of justice.

A civilian court in the Netherlands had ruled that the Dutch state was responsible for the executions carried out by its colonial troops in Rawagede, Karawang, West Java, on Dec. 9, 1947.

The court ruled that the government had to give compensation to the victims’ families.

The widows of eight victims and one victim from Rawagede filed a lawsuit against the Dutch state in 2008 to demand  compensation for the massacre.

The Dutch state admitted the executions but had insisted that no claim could be made due to the expiry of the statute of limitations of five years in Dutch law.

Dutch authorities stated 150 people were killed in the incident, while according to the association of victims the number of  dead victims was 431.
