492746Maybe with the "extending friendship and coordination between the military and police" jointly the defiance in Bogor will be dealt with this Sunday. I agree 100% with Gen. Timur that "there were many threats to stability facing the country". Jointly working together on this high profile issue would put words into action.

The National Police chief has promised to prioritize public participation and a closer relationship with their traditional rivals in the military in 2012.
“We can optimize public participation, after which our next program will be to increase public trust,” Gen. Timur Pradopo said in an address to regional police chief gathered in Jakarta on Thursday.
“Of course this will have to depart from the current social condition of the community,” he went on. “There were many aspects [of our performance] that were sub-optimal in 2011, so we have to improve.”
He referred to the many conflicts in which police were implicated for killing or harming civilians across the archipelago throughout 2011.
Timur said that 2011 had seen “cross-sector conflict” relating to the economy, labor and mining, among others.
“Again, we deeply regret the events that have taken place, and we will continue to always evaluate our officers,” he said.
The police internal meeting was followed on Friday by a joint meeting with the military, which was also attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa.
“This meeting represents a means of extending friendship and coordination between the military and police in the context of executing our joint responsibilities,” Timur said.
Since the police split from the military in 2000, there have been occasional incidents of conflict between the two security agencies as they have squabbled over protection money from illicit businesses such as gambling, prostitution, drug trafficking and illegal logging.
Without referring to this problem specifically, Timur said that the two agencies must learn to work more closely together. He said there were many threats to stability facing the country.
“This situation can lead to a security environment that is far from ideal, which is why it is the role of security forces, both police and military, to guard against this problem, in conjunction with providing security to the community,” he said.
