President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday announced that Lt. Gen. Moeldoko would take over as the Army’s new chief of staff and replace the president’s brother-in-law Gen. Pramono Edhie Wibowo, who is set to retire early next month.

“As you know, Pramono will reach retirement age soon,” Yudhoyono said during a press conference at the State Palace. “I am installing Moeldoko to replace Pramono, and the inauguration will take place on Wednesday.”

Yudhoyono said that he expected that Moeldoko would be able to lead soldiers of the Indonesian Military (TNI) in a professional and capable manner.

Moeldoko, who is currently the deputy army chief of staff, is considered one of the best and the brightest in the Army, and he was the highest rated graduate from the Military Academy’s class of 1983. He was born on July 6, 1957 in Kediri East Java in 2010 made the head of Siliwangi command in West Java.

When he led the Siliwangi command, he was known to encourage mainstream Muslims to occupy Ahmadiyah mosques and preach “the true path” of Islam.

He called on Muslims to refrain from physical violence and acts of vandalism, and instead conduct “an attack of prayer rugs” in mosques belonging to the minority Islamic sect.

“I ask all of you [Muslims] to sit inside their mosques, which are exclusive for the Ahmadis,” he said in March 2011. “Let us fill their mosques with Islamic activities and the correct teachings of Islam.”

One of the best and brightest, a soldier of the “true path” of Islam… So, the new army boss is a smart cookie with a proven discriminatory mindset against a minority group.
That’s Pancasila well and truly protected then.

Nice timing! The outgoing will soon be the incoming. Keep it in the family. Meanwhile, eradicate the rest. Who’s next after the PKS??? Also a smart cookie.

So the “best and the brightest” is a bully who thinks he has the right to engage in thuggery, politics and religion. Does he also believe the world is 4,000 years old and we are all the children of a sky god?

OMG… seems all to go in one direction…

    One more step towards Indostan.

Sounds like a perfectly level-headed individual. Can’t see what could possibly go wrong…

“When he led the Siliwangi command, he was known to encourage mainstream Muslims to occupy Ahmadiyah mosques and preach “the true path” of Islam.” and other actions as the call to occupy the Ahmadiyah mosques with (SUnni) Islamic activities and “correct teachings” (who is it anyway to say what teachings are “correct” and which one are not) plus his “attack of prayer rugs”.

Dear oh dear, and for that he becomes Chief of Staff. Shouldn’t the army (as well as the police BTW) completely refrain from meddling with religion (and politics)? I am quite certain that this is not part of their duty.

Slowly I suspect SBY to be a closet hard-liner who let just others do the the dirty work. All too many times he did ZERO to protect minorities and part of his cabinet is definitely infiltrated by Wahhabi.

Seems that President Susilo Bambang is setting the stage before his departure. RIP Indonesia.
