Police in East Kalimantan said on Wednesday that they were still looking for three suspects believed to be involved in the slaughter of endangered orangutans and other primates.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Santoso, the Kutai Kartanegara District Police chief, said the fugitives were workers from the palm oil firm Prima Cipta Selaras. Police have already arrested two others for their roles in the case.

The case mirrors that of another palm oil firm, Khaleda Agroprima Malindo, also in Kutai Kartanegara. Four of the company’s employees, including a Malaysian national, went on trial on Tuesday for the slaughter of at least 20 orangutans and other primates.
