Auckland, New Zealand. The French players still have nightmares about the way they defended in the pool stage defeat to New Zealand, and know that only a vast improvement will give them any chance of beating the All Blacks in Sunday's Rugby World Cup final.

The French midfield shredded in that 37-17 defeat as the All Blacks run in five tries, including three inside the first 20 minutes.

Forwards coach Didier Retiere says "when you concede three tries like that, even my grandmother would know we need to do better."

France must find a way of unsettling New Zealand's forward pack, and the players have been studying videos of how Argentina matched the All Blacks up front during the first half of their quarterfinal.
