Was it ever officially alive?

I, for one, am devastatated. I feel that given the fantastic traffic infrastructure, secure conditions, accountable government and forwarding thinking sports projects that Indonesia would be a great place to see England lose in the quarter-finals.

Soccer's world governing body FIFA has dropped Indonesia as a candidate to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

"We have informed Indonesia that because they failed to provide a number of documented guarantees by the deadline, Indonesia is not any more a candidate for 2018/2022," FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke said on Friday.

"They are out of this process."

Indonesia's bid has been unofficially dead since early February, when the government said it would not issue a guarantee required by FIFA for the country's bid.
